| dc.description.abstract | The success of Embraer gives cause to a certain proud for Brazilians. Nevertheless, the history of that achievement is not very well known. The support given by BNDES and the Brazilian government, added to the company’s technical excelence, has been very important. This paper presents an overview: starting with the beginning of Embraer, it shows how the official support was given since the time it was a state-owned company up to the present and how it grew from 1994 to 2010. It also shows some consequences of the official support to Embraer, which competes in a worldwide market, and it finally lists some of the new challenges that Embraer is currently facing. | en_US |

Porém, a história de como se alcançou tal condição nem sempre é do conhecimento geral. O apoio dado pelo BNDES e pelo governo brasileiro e a capacidade técnica da empresa foram muito importantes para esse sucesso. Este artigo traz uma visão panorâmica do surgimento da Embraer, mostrando como se deu o apoio governamental desde a origem estatal da empresa até os dias atuais e como foi seu crescimento no período de 1994 a 2010. O trabalho expõe também algumas consequências desse apoio oficial a uma empresa que compete no mercado mundial e termina por elencar alguns dos novos desafios que a Embraer enfrenta atualmente. | en_US |
