O novo Fundo Clima : potencializando o papel do BNDES no combate à emergência climática

Abstract

The global community is currently confronting a climate emergency, necessitating a comprehensive and sustained response. This article highlights the growing financing needs associated with the ecological transition, with particular emphasis on the critical role of public financing mechanisms, notably through development banks. Given the magnitude of the challenge, the role of public financing becomes increasingly relevant, especially through these institutions. Within the framework of public policy initiatives aimed at strengthening climate resilience in Brazil, the National Fund on Climate Change (commonly referred to as the Climate Fund) stands out as a key institutional instrument. Drawing on its recent performance, this paper underscores the Climate Fund’s growing strategic relevance and points out the pressing need to ensure long-term stable funding.
